    One-Day Virtual Training Workshop

    SPECIAL EVENT!

    Description:

Imagine if you could deliver virtual learning in a way that was so valuable and engaging that our participants prefer it to going to a classroom and listening to an instructor.  This session will show you how to create a rich, robust, collaborative virtual classroom environment that delivers a compelling how learning opportunity.

In this interactive one-day workshop, you will learn engagement techniques that build collaborative learning, innovative uses of the chat, polling, and annotation functions, and how to maintain attention and interest in the virtual classroom.  Experience great virtual learning first hand, as Cynthia Clay, author of Great Webinars: How to Create Interactive Learning that is Captivating, Informative and Fun, models webinar delivery while you’re logged into a webinar in the face-to-face classroom. Bring a short segment of a course that you’d like to “repurpose” for the virtual classroom based on the techniques presented.

    Objectives

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

    • Adopt  the tools and tricks of creating an engaging virtual experience
    • Apply what you learn to a virtual program you are working on
    • Deliver to your participants valuable, engaging virtual learning

    Speaker Biography

Walking and Talking the Diversity Path

As our country continues to diversify, it is crucial that we understand how equity, diversity, and inclusion impact both our work and our daily lives.  In this session, Martin Garnar will lead a discussion about these concepts and how to infuse them into our organizations.

This will be an interactive event and we’d like to know what YOU want to learn about equity, diversity, and inclusion.  Please send your questions to maroney_bj@yahoo.com by October 31st and we’ll do our best to incorporate those in our discussion.

This is the first part of a two part series.  In January 2019, we will discuss how to broaden our lenses to include a Global Mindset as part two.

    Speaker:

    Martin Garnar

The Just Talk series of programs is designed to allow open and honest conversation with multiple groups in our community.  Many of the conversations are open to the public so you can participate more fully if you have a desire or passion for this timely subject.  If you want to check it out before our session, go to https://www.uccs.edu/library/just-talk.
