    Have you read the latest?

Adam Grant's book is a BIG hit!  Did you read Originals?  Here's a link to his TedTalk:

Here's a chance to catch the next new discussion topic!

BOOK FOR September - October:  Radical Candor by Kim Scott

    From our friend Zach:

You can take a look at these questions in the Online Forum (http://td.pbc.guru) by clicking on the Radical Candor section. All four of these core questions can be pondered before, while, and after reading the book so that we can see how our ideas and thoughts evolve over the course of the reading process. To get the discussion started early, it would be great if you could comment on a couple of the questions before getting too far into the reading. Below is a suggested reading schedule.

Radical Candor is a best-selling book written by Kim Scott that deals with a subject that many people struggle with: how to effectively function and thrive in a leadership environment. She discusses building “radically candid” relationships and approaching interactions with a sense of both authority and humanity. I’ll be sending you interesting content related to Kim Scott’s Radical Candor as we progress in order to keep the discussion flowing.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the book,
    Zach
    PBC Guru

    Suggested Reading Schedule:
By September 5th, finish reading the introduction and chapter 1
By September 12th, finish reading chapters 2 and 3
By September 26th, finish reading chapter 4
By October 3rd, finish reading chapters 5 and 6
By October 10th, finish reading chapters 7 and 8
By October 17th, finish the book and prepare for our end-of-book discussion!

    LEARNING 2019 CONFERENCE

Appreciation, Gratitude & Recognition for improved Company Culture

Growth Mindset: Growing it in the Workplace

    with Joel Lamoreaux

Join us for two exciting topics: learn how you can create a focus on gratitude within your organization and how to utilize a growth mindset in the design and development of your learning programs.

We have a unique opportunity to partner with Pikes Peak Chapter member, Joel Lamoreaux as he prepares to conduct these two workshops at the 2019 Learning Conference in Orlando. On Thursday, October 24th , Joel will conduct his two workshops as a “dry run” session in order to practice his presentation, test out his session flow, and seek advice on how to make the sessions even better. Join us for one or both of the sessions.

    Agenda

3:30-4:30pm Appreciation, Gratitude & Recognition for Improved Company Culture

    4:30-5:00pm Break

5:00-6:00pm Growth Mindset: Growing it in the Workplace

Appreciation, Gratitude & Recognition for Improved Company Culture

    Promo video: https://youtu.be/9RNPTu2wJYw

Three years ago, we developed and offered our first session on gratitude at one of our employee learning events. The response to the topic surprised us: a floodgate of emotion opened as employees experienced first-hand what a simple act of thankfulness can do for the soul. Come hear our story and learn how you too can create a focus on gratitude within your organization. We’ll share what we’ve learned along the way about why gratitude can be foundational to your efforts in both recognition and appreciation.

    • Understand the differences among recognition, appreciation, and gratitude
    • Review the design and implementation of our gratitude session, including key resources and exercises •
    • Explore ways to introduce this work into your company culture

Growth Mindset: Growing it in the Workplace

    Promo video: https://youtu.be/Cz1krHAqP-c

“Growth mindset” is a popular development topic for many leaders, but a browser search on related learning exercises for adults will yield few results. This session is designed to fill that gap through shared experiences and creative energy. Participants will learn about and participate in several activities designed to build a growth mindset; then, ideate about new activities in small groups. Everyone will leave with a list of potential ideas to use in the design and development of their own learning programs!

    • Experience first-hand what fixed and growth mindsets sound like in your own subconscious
    • Increase “possibility thinking” around what it takes to grow this capacity in yourself and others
    • Create a list of potential ideas for the design and development of practical exercises on this topic
